Barf/Vomit/Puke

Ok so probably everyone would say that they hate barf, but I like, REALLY hate it!!!

There is probably nothing I hate more than cleaning up a big pile. The smell makes me gag, the sound makes me gag, the image of, you get the picture. In fact, some of the most difficult times of my life have been during the first trimester of pregnancy when vomitting is a daily occurance. Now, my own barf is bad, but when it comes to dealing with the puke of my offspring it's even worse. I think I may be a mom who says "clean it up yourself" once they are older....don't judge!

Tonight Ella started barfing randomly while we were enjoying a visit at Gramma Caff's house. She suddenly was running a fever & even most ghostly pale than normal. She is now safely tucked into bed with a barf-bucket by her side. My fingers are crossed that she is feeling better in the morning & that Lucy doesn't start heaving in the night...
My fingers are also extra crossed because the washing machine has been making a funny noise while processing the load containing the first clothing to fall victim to the spew. Maybe it also hates barf?

Birthday

So today was the day that I turned 27 years old!! It really sounds like a big number to me but I actually don't feel that old...I've been noticing lately that I usually am not sure how old I am when put on the spot seeing as mentally I'm still 17...so when I actually meet a real 17 year old it totally throws me off.

I'm not much of a birthday girl really. I've always been one of those people who don't really like a lot of attention. I do like getting gifts & appreciative compliments from those close to me on this day but I really don't expect the whole world to stop & pay me notice, if it did I would feel embarassed. In fact, the "festivities" today were just right. It all started with being woken up by Ella who was thrilled to be celebrating my b-day with me (she thought I was turning 45 due to my long arms...not sure what long arms have to do with being old but whatever), we went for a nice lunch with my mother-in-law & sister-in-law/friend, had a nice quiet afternoon and then had dinner & cake at my parent's house. My mom got a cake from the bakery on which the decorator put "Happy Birthday BATH"...it was good for a laugh, which I always love...I got phone calls from every single one of my siblings (yes, even my baby sis in Australia) & my husband remembered to get me a card :)
All in all, I am feeling comfortable with being 27...old enough to really be an adult but still a comfortable arms length from 30...for now...:)

Best Part of the Day

My life is pretty cut & dry these days. I get woken up anywhere between 7 and 8:30 by my wandering 3 year old who peers thru the slightly open crack of our bedroom door and usually says something like "good morning mom, did you have a good sleep?" (this is after I have slept like the dead thru Mike's repeated snooze button shinanigans & getting ready for work & departing by 6 am) So then I get Lucy from her crib, do bottle, breakfast, etc. IF I have out of house errands to do that day we're out the door by 10 and home by noon , Lucy sleeps the afternoon, me & Ell have afternoon "quiet time", dinner rolls around then it's bath & bed for the kids and we don't see them again until between 7 & 8:30 the next morning...Not very exciting sounding I know, but throw in a couple tantrums, some wonderfully sweet moments, lots of laughing and it's actually a pretty rewarding day.
So Mike goes to bed earlier than I since he gets up earlier than I so I usually have an hour or two with a quiet house every day. With this time there are some obligatory tasks that must happen, cleaning up from the day, making my hubby's lunch, preparing for tomorrow but then I get to do whatever I want, TV, movie, book, bath, facebook, BLOGGING (haha)! But around the time when I start feeling sleepy & know that Mike is long asleep & won't be woken up by me reading myself to sleep in our bed, this is actually the very best part of my day...
Lucy - the little ball of joy...literally
Oops, the flash woke her up...
Ella - the wonderchild who sleeps thru anything

Every night I go in and check on my beautiful little sleeping angels and it puts everything into perspective. It makes the difficult days worth it, the seemingly endless shortage of money, the tantrums, the broken things, the stepping on toys, the sticky kitchen floor, etc. etc. etc.
I can honestly say that I get to go to bed happy :)

Me & Blogging...

OK so I've been pretty vocal about the fact that I would NEVER start a blog/blogging....well I guess today would be the perfect day to change my tune as it turns out things I never thought would happen sometimes happen anways...
Something that I've long been puzzled by is small children who take their hairstyles into their own little hands..I've long wondered what on earth are their mothers up to that a kid can manage to not only get their mitts on some scissors but also attack their own coif...so imagine my surprise & embarassment when this very day I found my own 3 year old with some mystery scissors in her hand in progress of hacking away her beautiful blonde locks!! I honestly have never seen that pair of scissors before in my life and have NO idea how they got into my house, but in life & law, you can't plead ignorance. Anyways, I ate a heaping helping of humble pie!

So I figured that since I've already dealt with one "that will NEVER be me!" circumstance today, I may as well go on a roll and start the blog that I'd "NEVER" start too!
I gotta say...I'm already kind of enjoying it.....!
